- Using WordPress Admin Renamer Extended Plugin [Recommended].
#1 By Creating New User
This is the simplest and popular way to change your username from within WordPress dashboard. You don’t need to install any plugin.

- Go to Users> All Users.
- Create new user by clicking Add New button.
- Now you need to logout of current user account and login back with new username.

#2 Installing Admin Renamer Extended Plugin:-
As stated above, installing plugin is the simplest solution to get rid of any problem. Here also, we gonna to do something exactly same. Admin Renamer Extended Plugin is such plugin which helps to change your login username. This helps to keep your username separate from public use.
By default, your login username and public username are both same. Anyone can check it. But using Admin Renamer Extended Plugin you will have both types of usernames separate.
Confused? Suppose, your username is qwertyuser. This is the username which you use during login. Also, whenever someone checks slug of current author, it also shows qwertyuser. Both are same.
Hackers usually applies this tactic to guess username. And sometimes get succeeded.
But using this plugin, your public username and login username will both be different. This way hacker will never come to know about your real login username. This is what this plugin does.
For ex. – After install and creating new username, you will have your login username NewLoginUsername. Which is known only by you. And your author slug will be old one which you had before this.
Install this plugin, Go to Plugins> Admin Renamer Extended.
Put new username and click Update.
After changing username, you can immediately uninstall it. Changes made will not revert.
Final thought:-
Having your username different from public username helps to hide your login info. Now this becomes very tough for anyone to get into your WordPress dashboard even if he knows your password.
One has to guess two things now, one your username and other password.
All popular WordPress blogs usually use this trick. Having login information separate.
