Search Google More Accurately
There is no doubt that It is the best search engine, but it can be made much better and we can search anything what we want from it. We can grab 100 % of it.
Today we are going to share some amazing tips and tricks that we can use to search more efficiently. Here we go:
1. Use web friendly words
Suppose you have pain in your head and want to search it on Google to cure it. Then you probably say to Google that “my head hurts” but instead of doing this, you should write ‘HEADACHE’. I’ll be difficult for Google if you say my head hurts as such words may not be found in documents. Hence one should search web friendly words.
2. Use quotes if want to search exact information (EXACT)
When searching for something specific, try using quotes to minimize the guesswork for Google search. When you put your search parameters in quotes, it tells the search engine to search for the whole phrase. Suppose you search for Steve Jobs then try putting them in quotes as “Steve Jobs”. Then it’ll bring all the results which have exactly word “Steve Jobs”. If it excludes relevant results it will look for Steve and Jobs separately.
3. Use “~” before the words to find synonyms of the words
Sometimes we need to search for several words at a time, we can’t search for each different term each time. Suppose you want to search for Cheap Homes and put the “~” sign before the word cheap than Google in return will bring all the results which contain words like affordable, discount, low-cost etc. homes.
4. Write queries in short and easily understandable language
But you will need to use exact and least words as you can.
Suppose want to convert one currency to other then write “Dollar to INR” <without quotes> and Google will solve the problem without searching for better website.
You want to convert one language to other or say do translation, then simply write “english to hindi” <without quotes>
Search for time of any place. Type “time now America”. It’ll show the current time of America.
Check the temperature now, type “temperature now”
Check the movie time in local, type “movies”
Calculate anything, just type the equation in right manner.
5. Using OR and “-” operator
OR operator brings all the results which contain either word you defined. If you want to search for show or ticket on one page with other preferred results then search for “show” OR “ticket”. Google will return the results containing either show o ticket.
The minus sign, “-”, is used to eliminate a specific phrase or term from results. Search for cheap laptops but should not from Dell. Simply write “cheap laptops” –Dell. This will exclude Dell from results.
6. Using “+” operator
Adding “+” sign before any word will ensure that the results will definitely contain the word before which you added that “+” sign. For ex.: Search for Luxury cars and add + sign before Luxury then returning results will really contain the Luxury word.
7. Search within any website
Sometime we need to search a particular website for specific results. We don’t need to go to each site separately and search for the word we want. If you want to search our website for Unlocking Android pattern lock without data loss. Simply write in the Google Search Box Unlock android site:WebLogCentral.com
8. Search by filetype
This will restrict Google to show only those links which will have those filetype in that urls/links. Suppose you want to find out all doc files over internet or any links which will either have pdf or ppt and will have LTE keyword in title Ex: filetype:pdf OR filetype:ppt intitle:LTE site. It shows the result for given. It is useful when you wish to search something which is of specific type of file. You can directly call the search results to provide particular files at direct download.
9. Don’t worry about spellings, Google will take care
Don’t take much care about typing spellings correctly. Google will take care. Google is damn smart to rectify it automatically and will display your result for the correct one. If you didn’t mean what Google shows, still you have option to search for whatever you typed.
10. Using the wild card ‘*’
Using wild, it may be quite useful if you don’t know the whole exact word. Suppose if you want to search for friend, friends, friendship etc. Just add the “*” sign after word like friend*. Google will return the results containing friend, friends, friendship etc. This trick may be very useful.
11. Get the definition of any term
Suppose you want to don’t know about any word and want to get the definition of that. For example: if you want to search about ecosystem and want to get the short and exact definition. Type define:ecosystem. It will provide the results. See.
12. Use instant preview on mobile
Google Instant Previews is available on mobile also for Android and iOS devices. Like the desktop version, you can visually compare search results making it easier to choose the right result faster. The webpage can be open then.
