WordPress basically is most popular platform on the internet and around 60 percent websites and blogs run on this platform. Popular websites like eBay is also hosted on WordPress.
Complete Guide on How to Install and Activate WordPress Plugins:-
Basically, we can install WordPress Plugins in three ways.
- WordPress search and install plugin from Deshboard
- Upload Plugins or themes using WordPress Deshboard
- Using FTP method to manually upload plugins.
WordPress Search and Install Plugins from Deshboard:-
Although, this is the most simple and trusted method to install and activate plugins just by searching for plugins. This method works for free plugins which are directly available. One thing you need to do is to types exact matching words for needed plugins otherwise this would not list in search results.
You need to go to dashboard and click on Plugins Tab> Add New.
Suppose we want to install WP Super Cache, search for WP Super Cache and search results would appear.
Here, you can see the active installs, whether the plugin is tested with you WordPress version, details by one-click, and install button. If you have already installed plugin then you will notified that you have already installed that plugin.
Click on install, an pop-up windows would ask for confirmation (Google Chrome users)
After confirmation the plugin would be installed.
Click activate the plugin. Done!
Upload Plugins or themes using WordPress Deshboard:-
When you bought a premium plugin or downloaded plugin from wordpress.org website then you need to manually upload, install and activate the plugin. Upload dashboard supports only .zip files. Uploaded plugin would then be extracted automatically.
Click on Plugin Tab> Add New on WordPress Deshboard.
You will see an upload option on the screen here.
Click on this and upload .zip plugin.

Using FTP method to manually upload themes:-
Uploading Files using is the ultimate solution to every problem. Whether you want to upload theme, upload plugin, upload images, or anything other, just use FTP method. Though, it is not easy task and not recommended if you are a newbie. It ask a little technique. You can Download FileZilla Tool to upload files. On the other hand, you directly login to your hosting account and choose manual upload.
Conditions occurs when one or the other method don’t work in some situations. Last days, when I bought and install Newspaper theme and tried to upload theme using wordpress dashboard. I didn’t work even after trying for 3 times. So, I used to upload it using hosting account upload.
I am using BlueHost servers for my website and I would tell you how I upload large files, plugins, themes, or anything. One thing to note that there you can’t upload folders, you need to upload either zipping them to .zip format or upload files images, videos etc. After upload, extract them using extract tool.
Just login to your hosting account and move to file manager panel.
The type of file you upload, you need to upload it to the same directory where those type of files saved.
For ex. If you want to upload theme, then go to File Manager> public_html> wp-content> themes and upload file. After upload the theme and you all done.
Just go to WordPress dashboard and you will see installed themes, activate it.
You are all done! The last one is little complicated method and is recommended if above first two methods fails to work. Thanks for reading.
