Nowadays, the stealing of content from other blogs is a common practice.
The peoples who have been pushed (IYKWIM!) in the blogging industry are much engaged in these types of activities. They rather than finding something new to write upon steals content from other blogs and republish on their blogs. If you are one of those persons, please don’t do it. Blogging is not about copying content and making peoples fool by calling it yours.
The blogging industry is expanding so fast that a huge number of newbies are trying their hands in this. But mostly fails either due to not finding the new topics to write on or not getting attention from anyone. Thus leading to frustration.
Well, this is not today’s topic of interest. Protecting your content from such peoples should be taken seriously as you may face major problems later. So, better to pay attention earlier so that it doesn’t turn into big.
Reasons why to protect your content from being copied
There are a lot of reasons behind protecting your content from being stolen.
You know that we call content a King. As this is everything for us. Protecting content is the most important thing of all.
If your content is stolen by someone, then there will be definitely a sudden decline in your traffic. Being your content stolen divides your audience into two parts. Before this, the content of your blog was available at your blog only but now the same can be found at two different places. Thus, making your readers divide into two parts. More, if the number of stealers increases, more choices readers will have.
Sometimes, the worst thing happens when the blog which has copied contents from your blog starts to rank in Google Search Results higher than you. This is like getting out of your mind and striking your head before the wall.
Methods by which anyone can save your content
Copycats can steal contents from your blog using various techniques, out of which, the following are discussed below:
- Text/Image Selection:- Copycats may copy a specific part of your content and directly publish it on his blog. So, disabling Right-Click and Copy-Paste may really help in this.
- RSS feeds:- if you are using RSS feeds. Then you should be aware that without even visiting your blog, your content may get copied. The main reason behind this is that RSS feeds to display the entire post in the feeds rather than showing only post excerpts. SO you should change from your RSS settings to display only post excerpts. SO, if he wants to read more, he has to visit your blog. Where you already have disabled all copy-paste stuff.
How to protect your content from being stolen on WordPress
In order to protect your content from being stolen, there is the simplest way to do this. You just need to install a plugin on your WordPress Site and you are done.
Here, I’m going to suggest two plugins which you can choose from.
#1 WP Content Copy Protection
This is the simplest plugin with which you don’t need to do anything. Just install the plugin and you are done. This fits your needs if you just want to disable copy and paste on your blog. Installing this plugin, you have done everything. You don’t worry about the settings as all the settings are done already. Just relax.
#2 WP Site Protector
This plugin gonna help you in some more ways. Disabling only copy-paste and Right-click may not help you protect your content. Copycats still have the option to copy text using keyboard shortcuts. It also disables CTRL+A, CTRL+C, and CTRL+V. The copycat peoples have no option to copy from your blog now.
Final Thought [Important]
I personally don’t use any plugin as this makes your readers feel as looking at an image rather than reading a blog. It makes them feel themselves helpless. You don’t want to annoy your readers, they are the only wealth you have. Isn’t it?
Next, you may ask your readers too for keeping you aware of the redistribution of your content over different blogs. They will help you to find these copying blogs.
You may file a DMCA complaint against any such blog if you feel that your content has been stolen by them. DMCA will take further action to see what can be done. If the thing is found to be true, the blog may be deleted from Google as well as DMCA. What else copycats deserve?
I appeal all copycats if they are reading this that blogging is about finding new topics and write upon them. It is all about uniqueness. What you want to prove by stealing other’s hard work. You will not get any benefit from this.
Only the thing you are doing is satisfying yourself that you are also in the line of bloggers and you also have some [stolen] contents.
You will not gain any true audience. Blogging is all about developing trust. Only then you can survive. Are you doing that?
Well, don’t get me wrong please. If still, you have any doubt in your mind, let me know your thoughts.
