How to Submit Blog Sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tool

You have already read tutorial on how to submit and verify your blog to Bing Webmaster Tool. In this tutorial, I will be explaining to submit blog sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tool. Bing also plays are very important role in generating huge amount of traffic to your blog. It is used by good quantity of peoples. Not taking care of Bing can result in losing valuable traffic to your blog. So, you should submit your sitemap wherever you can.

We know Bing is a good search engine used by many peoples beside Yahoo and Google. I have already explained why we need to submit sitemap to search engines. So, I’ll not bore you about that again. But in short description, let me explain. Sitemap is a XML file list which contains links of all the posts, pages, categories and tags as well. Using this, you can notify search engines about your blog and its existence.

Types of methods to add sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tool:-

Basically, Bing offers different options to submit sitemap on Webmaster Tool. Some of them are:

  1. XML Sitemap:- This is the standard method used by search engines. Hence, You can add your sitemap using this method. Here, in this tutorial, I’ll be explaining this method to add sitemap to Webmaster Tool.
  2. RSS Feeds:- If you have RSS Feed for your blog, then you can submit URL of your feed burner list. This way, Bing will get updated each time whenever you post a new article to your blog. This is most easiest way to inform Webmaster Tool about update.
  3. Text File:- Bing asks to provide a text file of all of your posts and pages links. The condition is to include only one URL per line so that Bing don’t get confused.

How to add blog sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tool dashboard:-

First of all, you need to create new account if you don’t have one. So, we don’t need to go through making new account. Just like Google, you need to submit and verify your website or blog to Bing before submitting sitemap.

Now, let’s discuss about submitting sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tool.

Generate the URL of sitemap from your wordpress dashboard.

Go to http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster . This will take you to Bing Webmaster Tool Dashboard. Sign in to gain access to Webmaster Dashboard. Create a new account if you don’t have one.

After logging in, you will need to add your site URL if you didn’t not add before and verify it.

Next page will prompt you to add XML sitemap. Add sitemap and click Add.

Now your sitemap is added.

Sitemap Dashboard

It may take some time to add sitemap depending upon the size of sitemap. After some time, Bing will notify you about sitemap submission. If Bing finds any error, you will get notified. Solve the issue and submit again.
